Erik Holt is a career fire chief, military veteran, and single father who uncovered and reported documented election violations in Teller County, Colorado. Within weeks of turning over evidence, he was terminated. The criminal investigation was dismissed without charges. His case is now moving through the federal appellate court system. This site exists to preserve the record, share verified media appearances, and support the ongoing legal fight.
THE STORY
Erik Holt served his community for over two decades as a firefighter and fire chief. In 2023, after receiving multiple citizen complaints, he independently obtained public security footage from a local election held at a fire station. What the footage revealed showed repeated violations of Colorado election law by poll watchers assigned to winning candidates.
Holt documented the violations, timestamped the evidence, cited applicable statutes, and submitted the material to authorities. Thirty-three days later, he was fired. The criminal case was dismissed as a “no-file” decision despite video and audio evidence. Holt later discovered a direct familial relationship between the defense counsel hired by the individuals implicated and the senior prosecutor who dismissed the case.
Holt lost his career, his home, and his financial stability. What he did not lose was the evidence. His federal retaliation case is now before the appellate court, where the outcome may establish protections for future public servants who expose corruption.
